The exchange provides a wide range of services including spot trading, margin trading, futures, and options trading with more than 1700 to choose from.
With so many different type of products and services, there are also a wide range of differing trading fees to take into account. Let's continue by breaking each of these fees down one by one.
Gate.io Spot Trading Fees
The most basic trading fees on most exchanges tend to be the spot trading fees which are the fees that makers and takers pay when buy or selling cryptocurrencies via an order book.
If you are not sure what a maker and taker is, a maker fee is charged when someone places a limit order that is not instantly matched while a taker fee is charged when someone instantly removes liquidity from the order book.
Gate.io charges makers and takers the same fee when it comes to spot trading which is 0.2%. This fee can be reduced by those that are trading using the GT token or that have 30-day trading volume that exceeds $60,000.
Gate.io Futures Fees
When it comes to futures trading fees, the starting point is 0.015% for makers and 0.05% for takers. Similar to spot trading, the futures fees can be further reduced by traders that trade above $60,000 during a 30-day window.

Gate.io Funding Rate
The funding rate on Gate.io is calculated every minute and the value is averaged over an 8 hours window.
The funding rate is used to determine payments between all longs and shorts in the perpetual futures market, and it determines which party is the payer and the payee.
Gate.io Deposit Fees
As Gate.io currently does not offer any way for it's users to deposit fiat currencies on the exchange, the only other option (besides buying crypto with card) is to deposit cryptocurrencies onto the exchange. For those that want to deposit cryptocurrencies onto Gate.io, there are no deposit fees for that.
