BitMEX is a Seychelles-registered peer-to-peer cryptocurrency trading platform established in 2014 by Arthur Hayes and Ben Delo.

With a team of over 100 employees BitMEX serves users globally, except for places like the US, Ontario, Japan, and it's unavailable to Russian citizens.
The platform allows leveraged contract trading using Bitcoin as collateral with up to 100x leverage. Unlike conventional exchanges BitMEX exclusively supports digital assets and does not deal with fiat currencies.

BitMEX is a global cryptocurrency trading platform which operates in most countries except for a select few due to various restrictions.
These include the United States, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea and Sevastopol, the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic of Ukraine, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Seychelles, Sudan, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
Is BitMEX licensed and regulated?
BitMEX is not licensed by any known financial regulator in the world.
The exchange is registered in the Seychelles but the Seychelles does not have any specific regulations for cryptocurrency exchanges.
This means that BitMEX is not subject to the same level of oversight as exchanges that are licensed by more traditional financial regulators.
Is BitMEX available in the US?
As of February 2021, BitMEX has faced legal issues in the United States.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed charges against BitMEX and its owners for operating an unregistered trading platform.
These charges led BitMEX to stop servicing US customers on its platform which has significantly impacted its availability in the United States.
BitMEX settled the charges without admitting or denying any wrongdoing, and it agreed to pay a $100 million fine.
Can I use BitMEX in UK & Canada?
Bitmex is indeed available in both the UK and Canada but not in Ontario or Quebec.
