Kucoin is one of the most popular exchanges today while Bitrue is less known by the masses. While these two exchanges share some similarities, they also have some distinct differences that set them apart. Let's begin with the basics.
Kucoin was founded in 2017 by Michael Gan and is a rapidly growing cryptocurrency exchange that offers trading options such as spot trading, perpetual contracts, futures, inverse contracts and more.
The platform supports hundreds of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and plenty of altcoins to users in over 200 countries.
Bitrue was founded in 2018 by Curis Wang and is a Singaporean centralized cryptocurrency exchange that offers spot trading, futures, staking, lending, and borrowing which allows users to generate passive income.
Bitrue supports more than 700 cryptocurrencies, including top digital assets like BTC, ETH, XRP, and SOL, and is operational in over 80 countries.
Both exchanges have a sizeable user base, with Kucoin having grown to over 20 million users, while Bitrue has over 4 million registered users.
Additionally, both exchanges have Android and IOS apps, with Kucoin having been downloaded over 5 million times and Bitrue having over half a million downloads with an excellent 4.8-star rating based on 5,000 reviews.
Both Kucoin and Bitrue have done a good job creating exchanges that both offer a wide range of cryptocurrencies to buy and sell for retail users, in addition to more advanced features tailored to experienced traders.
Kucoin vs Bitrue Signup & KYC
Let's take a look at the signup and KYC requirements for these exchanges.
First, let's start with Kucoin. One of the benefits of using Kucoin is that KYC verification is not mandatory. This means that users can buy and sell the same cryptocurrencies that verified accounts can, without going through the verification process.
Signing up for Kucoin is also incredibly easy and only takes less than a minute. Basic email signup is all that is required to start trading.
However, if users want to increase their limits or deposit fiat currencies, they will need to go through the KYC verification process. Basic verification can be approved in hours, while KYC verification can take up to 2-3 business days.
Similar to Kucoin, KYC is not required to deposit cryptocurrencies and begin trading on Bitrue. The signup process is also quick and only takes 30 seconds.
Users can then deposit cryptocurrencies and start trading right away. However, users who want to buy crypto with a credit card on the platform must go through the KYC process. The KYC verification process takes a few minutes to upload the required documents such as ID.
Kucoin vs Bitrue Products & Services
Kucoin and Bitrue are both cryptocurrency platforms that offer a variety of products and services for it's users.
Kucoin provides basic spot and margin trading for hundreds of altcoins, as well as futures trading, leveraged tokens, and trading bots.
Additionally, Kucoin features lending and borrowing services, allowing users to earn interest on their digital assets or access loans using their cryptocurrencies.
The platform also offers staking, where users can earn rewards by holding specific cryptocurrencies in their account.
Kucoin has expanded its offerings by introducing an NFT marketplace called Windvave, catering to the growing demand for digital art and collectibles.
Furthermore, the platform also has its own Web 3 wallet for those that want to hold their own private keys. In terms of liquidity, Kucoin frequently is in the top 10 with daily spot trading volumes in the range of $500 million to $1 billion.
On the other hand, Bitrue is a cryptocurrency platform that offers spot trading and futures trading with USDT and USDC as underlying collateral.
The platform also provides leveraged ETFs, which are financial products that let users gain exposure to the price movements of crypto with a smaller investment.
In addition to this, Bitrue offers copy trading allowing users to follow and automatically replicate the trades of successful traders. Moreover, Bitrue includes lending, borrowing and staking services where users can earn interest on their digital assets.
Bitrue offers a clean and easy to navigate user interface that beginners can navigate without too much effort. The signup process is quick and users can deposit and trade cryptocurrencies right away. In terms of liquidity, Bitrue has an average daily spot trading volume of $1 billion for those that want leverage, they offer up to 50X on USDT perpetual futures.
Both Kucoin and Bitrue cater to retails users with a wide range of altcoins while still satisfying the needs of more professional traders with more sophisticated products and leverage. Having said that, Kucoin does offer more products and services overall compared to Bitrue.
When it comes to trading fees, both exchanges offer competitive trading fees but let's compare them in detail to see which one comes out on top.
Let's start with Kucoin. This exchange charges a spot maker fee of 0.1% and a spot taker fee of 0.1%. For futures trading, the maker fee is 0.02% and the taker fee is 0.06%. These fees are already quite low, but Kucoin offers even lower fees for traders who exceed a monthly trade volume of 50 Bitcoins or hold at least 1000 KCS tokens.
Now, let's take a look at Bitrue which has a more complicated fee structure which differs based on which trading pair is used. For those buy buy and sell using BTC, ETH or USDT, they will pay a maker and taker fee of 0.098%. This is basically the same spot fee as Kucoin. However, trading pairs besides the ones we just mentioned, the fee jumps up to 0.28% for makers and takers. In terms of futures fees, those are also 0.098% which is quite a bit higher than what Kucoin offers.
Another difference is that Bitrue does not offer any rebates or discounts for higher trading volumes. The only discount they offer is a 30% discount for traders who use their native BTR token as a trading pair. Overall, while both exchanges offer competitive trading fees, Kucoin has the fee advantage over Bitrue for spot and futures.
Kucoin and Bitrue are both popular cryptocurrency exchanges that attract users from all over the world. When it comes to depositing fiat currencies, however, the two platforms differ greatly.
Kucoin offers support for depositing fiat currencies for 28 different fiat currencies such as EUR, AUD, CHF, GBP, RUB, and SEK. Almost all fiat deposit options on Kucoin are with Visa and Mastercard, and they charge a high 3.8% deposit fee for deposits with these payment methods. Kucoin does however also offer bank deposits with low fees (1 EUR) as is the case for EUR deposits.
In contrast, Bitrue does not support the deposit of fiat currencies. The only deposit methods available are via crypto deposits or buying crypto with a card, which incurs an expensive 3.5% fee or a $10 fee, whichever is higher.
Overall, we are not very impressed with the fiat deposit options of either Kucoin or Bitrue. While Kucoin does offer options for a wide range of fiat currencies, the fees to deposit are so high that it becomes prohibitive for many users. And similar on Bitrue, buying crypto with a card on the exchange is too expensive and simply not worth it unless users literally don't have any other options.
When it comes to withdrawing your funds, Kucoin and Bitrue differ once again in terms of available options. Let's start with Kucoin. This exchange only allows fiat withdrawals in EUR via SEPA which comes with a fee of 5 EUR. In terms of fiat withdrawals, Bitcoin withdrawals have a fee of 0.001 BTC while Solana withdrawals incur a fee of 0.005 SOL and USDT withdrawals require a fee of 5 USDT plus a percentage of the withdrawal amount.
On the other hand, Bitrue doesn't offer fiat withdrawals at all. Instead, users can only withdraw cryptocurrencies with differing fees depending on which coin is being withdrawn. For Ethereum, that fee of 0.01 ETH and for Bitcoih, it is 0.0026 BTC. For those that withdraw USDT, that requires a fee of $2.6 while Solana withdrawals have a fee of 0.00025 SOL.
Kucoin and Bitrue are two popular cryptocurrency exchanges that have similar features but also have some notable differences. Both exchanges have large user bases and have Android and IOS apps for easy access. In terms of available cryptocurrencies, both exchanges offer over 700 cryptocurrencies.
When it comes to signing up and KYC requirements, both exchanges require KYC verification only for fiat deposits and higher limits. Besides that, both exchanges allow users to signup, deposit cryptocurrencies and begin trading without going through a KYC process.
In terms of product and services, they both offer a similar set of products with the slight differences being that Kucoin also offers a web 3 wallet, an NFT marketplace and some other features not available on Bitrue.
In terms of trading fees, Kucoin offers lower fees for high volume traders and holders of 1000 KCS tokens, while Bitrue offers a discount of 30% for traders who use their BTR token. When it comes to depositing fiat currency deposits and withdrawals, Kucoin offers more options in both cases while Bitrue doesn't support fiat deposits at all.
