Gate.io is a global cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2013 by Lin Han in the Cayman Islands. The exchange is in over 180 countries but has restrictions in the United States and Canada, and limited product offerings in the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
The exchange offers over 1,500 cryptocurrencies and a diverse service range including spot trading, margin trading, futures, and options trading.

Is Gate.io KYC mandatory
Gate.io introduced KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements for all users on May 8, 2023.
This means that all new and existing users are required to go through the identity verification process to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.

Gate.io requires the following information in order to pass their KYC:
1. Personal Details: This includes your full name, date of birth, nationality, and other relevant personal data. 2. Proof of Identity: A valid government-issued ID such as a passport, driver's license, or national ID card. 3. Proof of Address: A document that confirms your country of residence and address, like a utility bill, bank statement, or a tax invoice that's not older than three months. 4. Selfie with the ID: Some platforms may ask for a photograph (selfie) of you holding your ID or a piece of paper with the exchange's name and the current date written on it. 5. Facial recognition: You will need to scan your face to prove that you are indeed the person on the ID card.
Can I trade without KYC on Gate.io?
