Summary: Metamask is a non-custodial browser wallet that offers support for EVM-compatible blockchains like Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche and more. Solana which is not an EVM-compatible blockchain is currently not supported by MetaMask. The best solution is to buy SOL tokens on one of our recommended exchanges below and then transfer your SOL to a Solana compatible wallet such as Phantom, Exodus and/or XDEFI.

How to add Solana to MetaMask?

Metamask is the most popular non-custodial wallet in the world with over 30 million users.

Users can store, manage and transact with a wide range of EVM-compatible blockchains like Ethereum, Avalanche, Evmos and more.

Native Solana tokens can’t be added to MetaMask as Solana is not an EVM-compatible blockchain and as such, not currently supported.

You can however transfer wrapped Solana tokens to MetaMask via Binance Smart Chain. We would not recommend due to the risks associated with wrapped assets.

Instead, we would simply use another wallet that has native integration for the Solana blockchain. Having said that, if you definitely want to send wrapped SOL to MetaMask you can do so with Binance Smart Chain by following these:

1. Open MetaMask and select Binance Smart Chain
2. Click import tokens and insert the SOL contract address outlined below

Will MetaMask support Solana?

It is possible that MetaMask will support additional blockchains like Solana in the future. But it’s impossible to predict if and when such new features could be introduced. Until then, you will simply have to settle with either using the wrapped SOL version in MetaMask or use alternative wallets that support the Solana Blockchain.

What is the best wallet for Solana?

We recommend using the following non-custodial wallets to store your Solana native tokens. We use all three of these wallets!

Phantom Wallet

Exodus Wallet

XDEFI Wallet
